mine leaked throught the connector as well. First one leaked throught the banjo bolt and after tightening it, the other leaked through the connector. This was on a 1987 420. I replaced both. I siphoned off most of the gas and put it in my other vehicle. I made a clamp out of 2 ball point pens held together with rubber bands at the ends. The pump comes with new check valve installed. If your setup is anything like a W126, the routing of the hoses and the little offset of the pump from the center holding clamp is important. It makes it easier to put the protective box around at the end.
