If anything, the instrument binacle is a dark taupe kinda color that itself doesn't really match with the rest of the black plastics in the dash, but personally I like it.

I've had good results with Duplicolor Vinyl/Fabric paint. It's a nice neutral black, not bluish/purplish like some can be. I'm going to paint a steering wheel boss with it soon and will post a pic of it against the interior of the W201.
