Mercedes-Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel ~ W126 ~ OM617.951 Engine ~ Runs Great!

My Dad who was a retired diesel mechanic bought this car from an attorney back in October 1994 with 147,000 miles. We have a folder about an inch thick with every receipt of what was done since he bought it in 1994. Oil and filter was changed every 5,000 miles, Fuel filters were replaced regularly, Valves were adjusted regularly. The OM617 diesel engine is original and YES has 429,193 miles and counting. The odometer is working and correct! The transmission was replaced by the previous owner in August of 1992 at approx. 120,000 miles. In June of 1995 we had the transmission rebuilt with about 157,000 miles. In May of 2007 at about 329,000 miles we had the car repainted with the Supreme paint and bodywork package at MAACO of Reading PA. In May 2011 the entire exhaust system was replaced at 404,000 miles. There is so much that we had done over the years and it's documented in my file of receipts. This is a great car and has served us well. It has NEVER left me stranded on the side of the road! Unfortunately, we don't have the time to give this car the love and attention it deserves. We have always kept this car in the garage when we weren't driving it which is part of the reason I am selling it. We need space in our garage.

The issues with this car are:

The original Becker car stereo doesn't work and has been disconnected.

The air conditioning doesn't work. ($1300.00 to repair)

The driver's door power window motor doesn't work. (The motor isn't available and can't be found new or used. This model year for 300SD used 3 different window motors for the left front door. If the Mercedes dealer had it in stock it would cost $850.00 new). The other power windows are slow to open.

The trunk won't open (mechanism sticking). This was fixed once but the mechanic said the next time it sticks it would require that we rekey the trunk and would end up with an extra key. I am not sure how much this would cost to redo.

The little lever that adjusts the front power seat backrest on the door is broken off (It still can be adjusted with a small screwdriver).

The vacuum system that opens and locks the doors is slow to work (probably needs new vacuum pump).

The antenna doesn't go all the way down.

The chrome trim piece is missing on the right & left front quarter panel.

The plastic woodgrain pieces on the dash are loose and could use a little glue.

The left front rail frame had rust that was repaired for state inspection and there is rust on the rocker panel, right rear wheel fender, left rear door (see photos). It's ok now but as they say rust never sleeps.

I start this car every week but something drains the battery VERY slowly ( I thought it was the Becker car stereo but the battery still needs recharging about once a month)

The car has PA state inspection that expired in March 2015. It probably wouldn't need anything but I never bothered to get it inspected since I have other cars I drive daily.

This car would be a good donor for somebody doing a Mercedes OM617 to a Jeep or Toyota 4x4 engine swap, restoration or parts! If you keep running the car you'll soon hit the Mercedes 750,000 km (468,000 miles) award!

Since this is a 34 year old car it is being "Sold as is". $1,000 FIRM

I believe I have described and disclosed everything. Any questions please ask. After speaking with the certified mercedes mechanic who has been working on this car the last several years, I've decided I won't go down on my price. $1,000. FIRM. In his words "Yeah, there are some things bad with the car but there are A LOT more good things with the car and worth atleast $1,000." If he had the room, he would buy it for $1,000.
