Unhappy mass air flow sensor

Hi and thanks for the forum!

my girlfriend has a 1998 c230 and they told her the mass air flow sensor must be replaced at a cost of over 800 (includes labor) I have read on this board that it's a 10 min DIY'er. I called and spoke with the service writer and he told me the reason the labor was so high is because you cant just replace the sensor that you have to make adjustments to the computers. So I guess my question is Is the service writer just BSing me or is he correct. Reading the threads here I think he was snowing my girlfriend. 4 hours labor for a 10 min DIY job. Also, what is the best price I should look for on this part. Is bosche part very good? They want 400.00 for one and the dealers OEM part is only about 40.00 more
anyone changed it yourself and did you have to do anything other than resetting comp to get rid of code?

I believe the part # is 000-094-09-48
Again THANK YOU !!!
