So, in summary we have 'narrowed' it down to:
-valve adjustment
-valve seals
-problems resulting from missing an elbow joint
- a diaphragm failure at the vaccuum pump (gee I hope MY diaphragm doesn't fail! )
-a blown head gasket
-incorrect injection timing
-a problem with the turbo charger

:p :p

Okay, lets see if this helps diagnose the problem. These are the compression testing readings that the previous owner got from his mechanic:
1- 271
2- 238
3- 294
4- 264
5- 235

I don't have any information on how correctly this test was done.

We're going to start with a valve adjustment, since it's the easiest and probably needs to be done anyway.
