I think you are the one getting the years mixed up. As I understand it the changes are for the 2018 tax year filing due by April 2019. Have you heard of people in high tax states trying to pay real estate taxes not due until 2018 at the end of last year. The reason for that is SALT taxes paid will be a write off in the 2017 tax year not 2018.
So unless I make a large purchase this year I still plan to send my 2018 tax return in on a post card! Thank You President Trump.
