Brummating alligators and frozen Iguanas

Nature is pretty amazing.

In various parts of the south which experienced freezing weather, cold blooded animals such as iguanas and alligators have to figure out how to survive. Alligators brummate. This is their version of hibernating. If they are in water that will freeze they will stick their snout above the water so they can breath and wait for it to thaw out.

Iguanas apparently have a hard time of it below 50 degrees or so and I guess if they are in a tree, they lose control and fall. It is recommended if you see one of these poor saps, you move it to a sunny and out of the way location. As soon as it get warm enough, they will be fine.
