I know you-all have lot's of opinions, here's your chance to share some of them. I'm thinking of selling my 1987 wagon and moving into a somewhat newer people hauler. I really don't know what it's worth - care to share your thoughts on the matter? Edmunds and KBB give values of $3.5K-$4.0K, but they go for more than that on Ebay with no records and unknown milage.

The details:

1987 300TDT wagon. 128K miles. Dallas car all it's life - no rust. Good books & records, but not 100% complete. All original paint looks very good, no accidents nor bodywork. Could stand a visit from the paintless dent guy, and a new rear bumper impact strip, but that's about the worst of it. Most folks think it's 3-4 years old.

Interior is about the same - quite good, but not quite excellent. No major problems. Seats have been treated and redyed with Leatherique, but passenger seat does show some cracking in the leather. Wood is OK, does show some stress cracks but no major problems. Carpets, headliner, dash are all like new.

Drivetrain is strong - this is a very good running OM603. Trans shifts just right. No funny noises, no oddities - it really goes when you step on it. Delivers about 25MPG city, 30 highway. All service is current, including coolant and brake fluid. Had 120K service at 120K, imagine that!

Quite a few details attended to - new accumulators 3 years ago, new hatch struts, shifter bushings, clock repaired, pads/rotors/hoses/parking brake all around - that kind of thing.

Suspension is all original, but for sway bar bushings and the aforementioned accumulators.

Right now the a/c is out, but everything else works - cruise, all windows, central locks, power antenna, etc. (Something failed on the high side of the a/c and dumped the charge just this past weekend. Probably either an o-ring or the manifold hose.)

So, my question - How much would you pay for this car? How much of a deduction for the non-functioning a/c? How much would joe-average-public pay, as opposed to you gurus of the 124 chassis that reside on this board?

Oh yeah, it's white over palomino leather, has the sunroof and third seat.
