I would not expect it to be a cam sensor problem.

The cam sensor is there just for the computer to recognize if a cylinder is on the compression or exhaust stroke. On some engines with variable cam timing is is there to confirm the cam timing changed.

You could mark and make a map of the plugs. wires, coils then move every thing around to good cylinders.

You really need the detailed MB description / trouble shooting chart to determine what tests need to be done.
