87 190D 2.5 Crankshaft Seal Number.

Just replaced my ft. Crank seal and thought I’d pass along the new repair size #. Took some doing as the dealership parts gal couldn’t understand what I was wanting, the “repair” size as mentioned in the FSM. The sealing lip rides 3mm aft of where the original rode on hub. The P/N is A 010 997 89 47 and covers a zillion other MB engines. Hopefully this helps if someone who may have had the same problems I did at the parts counter. I also replaced it without taking out the radiator, super ninja style....I removed the shroud, the pulley, then removed the crank nut, then reinstalled the pulley bolts, sans pulley, as the hub remover. I used some stainless .030 sheet metal to protect the timing cover from being damaged. A touch of heat on the hub, then carefully snugging alternating position pulley bolts up, in VERY small increments, worked like a charm. Saved mucho time on the radiator removal etc. A very dirty job, especially with all the oil everywhere. For gods sake USE THE SPECIAL WASHER WITH THE TENSIONER ARM. The p/o didn’t causing my bolt to snap off, did the seal while I was in there. Clip
