A good way to check if your clutch is causing the fuse to blow....

Pick up an inline fuse holder at any auto parts store.

Put in a fuse the same amps as the one that keeps blowing.

Run one end of the fuse holder wire to the positive of the battery and the other to the wire coming out of the ac clutch.

If it blows, well, you are going to need to replace the clutch. If not then maybe you have a short in the switch or a wire has worn through, making contact with the body.

This might seem like an unusual step to take, but if the fuse is not blowing in the fuse holder then you have just saved yourself the cost of an ac compressor clutch. And the fuse holder trick is a lot cheaper than just throwing on a new clutch.

Full confession: I once replaced something, I don't remember what, about 40 years ago before I fully tested the component. The problem turned out to be a rubbed through wire. That cost about 2 cents worth of electrical tape to repair.
