It's your car, you do what you want. The clamshell plastic/rubber slide is a stupid design and inherently weak. I'm sure the intentions were good, but when you use the same regulator and lift mechanism from a standard wheelbase car on a long wheelbase car and expect it to cope with the extra weight and drag from a larger, heavier window, it isn't going to end well.

My car has the windows adjusted about as perfectly as can be expected, can be lifted with a finger, don't bind in the tracks, regulators are smooth and aligned properly, and they still went through a set of OE slides after a couple hundred operations.

These "alternative" slides are there for people who don't want to deal with that kind of BS. If you don't like them, don't buy them. It's really that simple. I don't really care either way, but I'm sure someone who wants their windows working and is sick of the OE slides does.
