There are two different type of motors. One is a square box looking thing with a single drive coming out of the end attached to a rubber coupling. The coupling attaches to the gearbox which is a part of the regulator assembly.

The other is a motor and gearbox assembly that bolts to the regulator.

The early cars use the square motor. I think the break came in 1969 but I am not sure. You need to remove the door card and pull out the regulator to be sure.

On the early regulator there is a wheel you can turn to operate the window if the motor fails.
