M119/W124 motor mounts & other questions

The motor mounts are shot on my 400e. I do feel the vibration of the engine but it's really not THAT bad - actually, kind of reminds me of a Porsche 928! But my mechanic says I'll notice a BIG improvement if I put in new motor mounts. I would like to do what I can to improve NHV in my car - anyone done this lately?

Also, I notice that there are cooling ducts directed at the motor mounts. Why? Shouldn't they go to the front breaks instead?

Can someone please explain the reason for the floor hinged accelerator pedal? Sure it looks cool but ergonomically it dosen't feel nearly as comfortalbe as a non floor hinged pedal. Please give me some "German Engineer(ing)" type answer at least!
