Read this:

Setting new Airflow Meter - 190 16V

Check the zero position and your basic position/lambda adjustment on your air flow meter.

Also remove the plastic tapered air idle valve between the valve cover and the air filter. Clean it out with some carb cleaner. This can get gunked up and cause idle weirdness.
