WANTED tech and purchase advice for 1999 c280 sport sedan

We are about to sign a deal to purchase a 1999 c280 Mercedes sport sedan blk/blk, 61000k w/c.d. changer, sunroof. from a Mercedes dealer in Toronto Canada. $30.500 (cdn)

Context
I live in Fredericton New Brunswick and so the closest MB dealer is 5 hours away

I expect to do all routine maintenance and, if necessary parts replacement myself. I have
Owned/repaired (2) 80s Volvo 240 wagons, 76 BMW530i, 87 Volvo760T wagon, and my dads Buick Reatta.
I have done suspension, ignition, fuel, electrical, brake, system repairs to all cars.

My wife will be driving this car on a regular basis 15,000k per year.

New Brunswick roads are amazing in the summer and downright frightening in the winter so I expect the wear and tear to be high ??

Questions
1) Is this motor reliable?

2) Is it realistic to think that I can repair and maintain this car?

3) Are there repair items I should get the dealer to do as a part of our purchase agreement?

4) Are there tell tale signs I should look for before purchasing the car that will indicate lack of previous maintenance, I will be flying into Toronto to sign the deal and pick-up the car.

Thanks everybody
