Never been to a true buffet that I would consider going back to. There is a place close to my office that is a "serve yourself" lunch, which is excellent. The food is cooked by an award winning chef who runs the restaurant across the street. But they charge by weight, so no free seconds.

The more traditional buffets...even in nice hotels and resorts, a lot of it is pretty mediocre, probably based on the sheer volume they need to produce, balanced with profitability. Edible but not memorable...
