A similar situation came to my attention when my '88 was at the dealer for some warranty work back in about 1990 A late model 190E 2.3 was is the service lane with several people gathered around listening to a tick in the engine. My service advisor later told my that the car had 25K miles and the owner had never changed the oil. I never did ask if they honored the warranty, but such utter neglect of required maintenance would be solid grounds to deny a claim.
Some people would be better off if they had their time prior to the 20th century.
