Eric, I doubt you can remove the front seal with the pump shaft in place, the seal has a metal core and it sits very tight so there isn't room for you to pry the seal out. To remove the front seal, I had to pull the pump shaft away from the front cover/seal then used a big screw driver to pry at center hole.
However for my 400E, I only removed the front half of the pump, then all the internal parts went off with front cover, this is exactly as Benzmac had suggested, don't know if your pump is the same as mine.
