All 1986-1992 300E's have the same 3.0 liter M103 engine. It is a great engine with a long history of reliability and durability. It is just not as powerful as the 1993-1995 3.2 liter engine. It is probably pretty close in power to the 2.8 liter M104 engine used in 1993.

1993 was the first year of the M104 engines (in the sedan).

1993 was the only year the 2.8 liter was used (300E 2.8). This is the same engine used in 1994-1997 C280's.

Other than the 300E 2.8, the only other gasoline engine offered in 1993 300E was the 3.2 liter engine.
