In response to your question of fitment, my every day driver is a 190 with a 5.0 Ford GT40 motor and 5 speed. The steering was also a factor of interference and I used a VW
Golf/Jetta rack and pinion. You have to shorten each side 2 1/2" and rethread the tie rods. If you use 124 struts and brakes
along with steering arms (30% heavier) then use VW Quantum tie rod ends...they fit! I also shortened each arm 2" and dropped it 3/4", to make up for the shorter travel, and then had them stress relieved and re-heat treated to proper Rockwell hardness.
This coming Jan it will have been on the road for 5 years. Used the Ford eng as it also is front sump and lighter than a Chev.
Car weighs the same as a 2.6 190, 55%/45%.
The rear is a ltd slip from a 92 Vette but an
independant from many others can be made to fit...less expensive than MB stuff. Also NO CV joints and flex discs to worry over!!
Sounds like interesting project and good luck.
