I have my letter from Mercedes for a 150,000 mile extended warrantee on the engine due to coaking problems using the FSS system on the 99 E300. The letter states that this is not a problem if you have used synthetic oils the entire time. I have always used synthetic and will continue to to so on the E300 and the 560SL. I would recommend using sythetics IF you intend to keep the car for the long run. If you trade in youru cars every three years shy bother. Unless you want to help the next owner.
