Post the name of one shop who will work on these mercedes gearboxes. I have yet to find one. But if you found one, then I can certainly mail in a transmission to them (they are pretty light and easy to ship).

Shops generally want transmissions that have rebuild kits, or at least they can get spare parts from the manufacturer. Well, with the 717.400.....Mercedes provides neither. And the classic center is of no help as well. Even their guy that used to rebuild them is retired and they could not refer me to any other shop to tackle a rebuild.

Are your statements specific to the 717.400?

Tom would have been the guy at classicparts probably. I have a hard time believing that mb doesnt have a parts list for the 717.400.

What about a different 717.4xx
