'72 350sl rotor question

on the distributor rotor they should have appx 5k ohms resistence which mine does. however there is no connection available from the center pickup out to the striker (the end of the rotor that strikes the dist. cap.)

so when dealing with resistors should i not be able to get a connection regardless of the voltage it can handle?

the rotor i have is a rev limiting type.

HELP!

tks
