There is a clamp that helps hold the steering lock to the steering column (jacket tube). Remove the clamp (remove the bolt and slide the clamp out of the way). Then turn the ignition lock with your screwdriver 1 click clockwise (positon 1). Under where the clamp is there is a small metal button. You can now push in on this button and pull the lock out of the jacket tube. You can't push the small button in without the lock in that position 1, which is why it's so much harder if the key is seized.
You may need to just remove the trim on the bottom side of the steering wheel side of the dash, then pull the dash out a bit (towards the driver) to get the lock to slide out from the jacket tube enough to remove it.
