Is this the "pivot mount" that bolts to the firewall? That would be the item that converts your pressing the pedal (linear motion) to a rotational motion of the rod to the linkage.

I see that part in the Performance Products catalog for $7.65 and its probably on FastLane too.

This is a fairly common problem. The OEM part has a rubber/plastic that degrades pretty badly with age. Typically the new part designs are stronger and use a modern plastic material that is much tougher.
