I see. Well I thought I'd take a shot at it because my pivot point on the firewall was one of the first things I had to replace on the 1982 300D. The car was pretty weak to drive with a bad pivot point because you couldn't fully open up the injection pump to supply fuel. Plus it was a little dangerous because eventually the rod may have dropped out.

One of my fond early memories of the car was letting my brother drive it. He turned onto a slightly uphill street at an intersection and immediately pulled over to the side because he thought the car had blown its engine. He was used to a working accelerator pedal on a gasolene car, and he thought he was pressing it down plenty far enough to get power.

It's considerably better now with the new pivot point.

Hope the stop lever is not too hard to replace.
