Does your 'burban have overhead cams? If not, I'd say there's enough difference that you'd better get a proper shop manual if you don't already have one. The manual calls for 4 different sealants in the area of the top timing chain cover.

Doing this for the first time? Plan on 20 hours of solid work. No need for special tools. Certainly nothing you can't get at AutoZone.

The other thing to consider while the head is off is that the valve guides should be checked by an experienced tech or machine shop if the originals are still in place and have gone over 100K miles.
