Just remember to oil the rubber gasket before hand-tightening.

I have a wide array of oil filter wrenches.
Strap-type, band-type, pliers-type, cap-type...
The best one depends upon the access situation.

Whenever it will fit, my favorite one to use is the one pictured below from Lisle Corp. It uses a 3/8 drive, so various extensions can be used as needed. It has provided years of hard service without complaint. Does not work without decent access to the filter end, however.
