For the seat bottom: Compress the edges and you will then be able to force the "fold" of the seat material that is under tension and jammed into the channel in the metal seat bottom. The fold has a cardboard backing it it must clear the channel (compression of the seating surface).
Best to start in the back section of the seat bottom.
