260e waterpump failure after 30k miles
I just have to vent a little bit. I am in the process of replacing the waterpump on my 89 260e with the 103 engine for the second time. I replaced what was the original pump in Dec. 2001 with a MB factory pump. I've put 29k on the car since and now it needs another pump. I knew the R&R was going to be a pain and people told me to make sure that I install a MB pump rather than an aftermarket unit because you don't want to do the job twice. I guess I'm just disappointed in the lack of quality in both the parts and design like crappy tensioner's, valve stem seals at 50k, etc. There, now I feel better
