The 126 manual does not cover the 6 cylinder diesel that was in the 300SDL. The engine manual I have is for the 602,603 engine
It covers the following cars
1986 190D2.5, 300SDL
1987 190D2.5, 300D,300TD,300SDL
1988 190D2.5
1989 190D2.5
1990 300D2.5,350SDL
1991 300D2.5,350SD,350SDL

The seperate supplement for the engine is copied below

PS I did get it out without removing the radiator. You are correct in using a 8mm hex key or a small 8mm allen socket. I got the socket from the snap-on distributor in the local area, Its a Hazet socket. I just used some small thin lockpliers that I have and it worked ok. I held the lockpliers and spun the fan coupling pulley. It was free spining since the belt had broken and was off the car.
