John,
You should only need some patience and some Meguiar's #7 or Wax Shop's "Bug and Tar Remover". Simply spot clean (apply, remove, reapply/re-remove till perfectly clean) When your done cleaning be sure to wax the panel you have been working on with #7 or Bug-n-Tar. (either of those removes all old wax) Meguair's #26, M's Gold Class liquid, or 3M waxes are recommended. (or whatever you have been using) Plastic or sheetmetal should respond about identically. First wash the area (entire car actually) with a good car wash to get dust, grit, the grime you can, etc off. Zymol wash, Meguiar's #00 or M's Gold Class shampoo, usual suspects...should all do well.

Hope that does the trick for ya. You know how to reach us if you need anything else...Lee
