dear lee - thanks for your input. i agree with you and that's what we decided - i just know as soon as we'd have the entire rear panel painted, we'd have a shopping cart roll into the same area!!! we can definitely ''live'' with it and our detail man said area will not ''rust''.
frankly i'm aggravated that the dealer sold it that way - the detailer today stated the egged area had been there for some time - we only bought the car the end of july and due to hurricanes/tropical storms it has been garaged - he feels it's way older than that. but go prove it-we thereafter pointed it out to the dealer who at first denied it was there when sold, but for ''goodwill'' agreed to pay for the paint job. didn't expect games like that frm a m.b. dealership. and this was after we had asked them to notify us if an 'S' resale or demo becmes available!! needless to say, we'll forget about that (with that dealer, in any event). thanks again!!!
