I love my 190E 2.6, but I don't drive it everyday. Mercs are great cars, but they have a number of complex systems that can be expensive to repair.
Consider that a Toyota Camry you could get for aboutthe same price would be half the age with half the miles.
There are some on this board who got good deals on late eighties vintage Mercs, but some put nearly the purchase price into them in the first couple of years.
If you're looking for something to drive to work an older Merc is probably not a best choice. A more plebian car would be much more practical and likely be a lot cheaper to operate as a daily driver.
An '87 190E can be insured as a collector car since it's over 15 years old, and you can just drive it on the weekends.
