Marcb, I would have to agree, once it begins to come apart, there is no real fix, exept to replace it. I know it as a kick down cable for down shifting the tranny. To replace, you must drain trans and remove pan. The cable enters the tranny on the right side and has a small metal end on it that fits into a wheel track that turns. When you get it apart, and turn the small wheel towards the right, you will see how it is attached, remove old one. and pull through the top of the tranny, watch for dirt, best to clean the whole area before you start. steve
