After a good washing, I would try some chrome cleaner or chrome polish. It's available at Autozone, Pep Boys, et al. Chrome cleaner has stronger chemicals in it that you really don't want to put on paint or clearcoat but it works great on chrome. Several people make it. It is usually a liquid that looks like car polish. Follow up with a coat of wax.
