Should my R129 cruise control lever be floppy?

It's got about 1" of up and down play, and is frictionless - just sits in the down position. When I want to set it, I just need to lightly press it to the top - hardly any pressure needed when it reaches there, and that sets it.

It feels quite different to any other cruise control I've used, but I haven't had the chance to try another R129 for copmparison.

Should it be like this?
