dmorrison, thank you for those excellent pictures for "compare and contrast".
What happened was the sway bar broke because of excessive rot. It was too weak and broke off the control arm.
That means I'd have to replace the sway bar, and they cost a fortune.
That's it! I am moving southward to where winters are non-existent!
