Euro vs Federal lights

Actually. The only US aspect of the "US" spec light design is the yellowish color of the inner lights. Outside the US the "downmarket" versions of the 123, ie the 200, 200D, 230, 230E, 240D, 300D all had the same round headlights. Only the top of the line cars recieved the "euro" lights. ie the 280, 280E, and possibly the 250 while it was produced, though I cant remember as I've seen so few of them.

For myself I actually prefer the round lights. I think they look better in the 123 body, while the "euro" lights look better in the 116. But then, aesthetics is largely subjective. They look great whichever you choose.
