oilslick, I had the same problem on my 83 300sd. I spent so time looking at both ends of the drain pipe and figured out the bends were not right, so I took the pipe out of the engine area and held it by the two ends, streching it out a little at a time untill it fit tight in both the air cleaner and the sump.
