You won't need to balance if you keep all rotating parts in the same relationship, and if it is really bad, you will need a cartridge anyway (rotating parts and bearing housing).
End housing removal is just bolts, make sure you get them back into the factory configuration (i.e. get the output from the compressor pointed at the intake manifold).
