Mercedes does recommend to replace the brake fluid every two years for the system to remain free of moisture. That is the cause of most brake systems. Before trying to diagnose where the problem is I would suggest to do this first, then start looking elsewhere. Sounds like internal leakdown in the master cylinder or air in the system if no outside evidence can be seen. Bleed it!
