My Dad's garage recently sold a '96 Volkswagen Passat brand new. In 2001.

Someone (I believe someone we knew) was at Volkswagen where they store all the cars - a big car park like this. He spotted this old model Passat TDI estate sitting there like the day it left the factory.

After some probing it was found that it had just got lost in the system, and sat there 5 years without, seemingly, anyone knowing about it.

We managed to buy it, sold it to a customer for around 65% the price of an equivalent new-model present year car, after some preparation (surprisingly little) and it still runs perfectly, despite a tough life at the hands of a veterinarian!.

See pic - a '51' on these new style UK plates clearly means a 2001 car. On a clearly not 2001 Passat.
