I switched from OEM pads to PBR Deluxe pads on my 1991 300SL. Very little dust as compared to the OEM's and no noticable difference in braking performance or feel. No unusual wear on rotors in about 10000 miles. It is recommended that brake lines be flushed out every now and then. I can't explain what happened to you, but perhaps the calipers were somehow damaged when the pads were installed. TTT
