The shop-tool dipstick is measured in millimeters, so it won't really give you real useable information. It can be RELIED on to give an accurate reading, just a little too accurate and you'd need a chart to interpret the information, it's not like it has "full" and "add" on it or anything, it's used for several types of engines. I'd use the cluster.
