Question Clicking trans?

Odd one..

Trans on the 300D is going out, 3-4 slip, running with vac modulator unhooked to keep firm reasonably non-slipy shifts.
Any vac at ALL and it slips too much.

Now.

Changed the filter and fluid a few hundred miles ago, added a quart of trans-x, beating the dead horse. In the last hundred miles or so I noticed what I thought was a noise from the brakes, but I can't think of anything that could posibly make such a tight, sharp CLICK in that system. When decelerating, on the brakes lightly, there is a click, usually very close to a downshift. I'm assuming this is a valve in the valve body that has been freed up by the trans-x. Anyone ever heard of this?

While I'm at it, the 3-4 slip is noticably less under moderate to hard acceleration than it is at light throttle. Odd since there's effectivly no comunication between the engine and trans other than the bowden cable(which is adjusted correctly).

I plan to change the fluid and filter again in a week or so to ditch the trans-x. We'll see.
