Hi Adam. Well, since you asked. You can pretty much give it any treatment that pleases your eye. Keep in mind the black plastic plug wire bail that snaps into the top of the cover. Also the oil filler cap. When I redid my head a while back, I stripped all the paint and cleaned the cover and repainted semigloss black VHT lacquer. Looks great and still keeps most of the oil inside the engine...
