Does the Euro you're looking at have a manual trans or an automatic? My '84 Euro has a manual four-speed, which makes it remarkably lively for an ol' diesel.

Regarding the bumpers, suit yourself. As has already been posted, the bumpers were changed to meet the North American regs, adopted after the insurance company lobby convinced Congress that such regs were needed.
