Subject: All Passenger Models
Service Kit for Rectifying Squeaking, Creaking and
Tearing Noises



"Effective immediately, non M-B lubricants or other lubrication aids for repairing squeaking, creaking and tearing noise may not be used on M-B passenger cars. Only M-B lubricants are permitted for use. These lubricants are specially tested for suitability with the interior materials of the vehicle. In the future only the following lubricants may be used on M-B passenger vehicles:

002 989 06 51 Locking cylinder lubrication, spray
002 989 07 51 Multipurpose grease, for metal
000 989 38 60 Special sliding compound, grease
000 989 35 60 Special sliding compound, spray
000 989 37 60 Special sliding compound, dispersion
000 989 36 60 Special sliding compound, liquid oil


A service kit is available, "Noise Damping Service Kit" A000 580 03 50, to ensure the best possible application of these products. The service kit contains all authorized M-B lubricants was well as an application table for the best method of rectifying squeaking, creaking and tearing noise. This kit also contains a description of the most common felt materials and their quality, which is the preferred material for rectifying rattling noises.

This service kit is part of the normal workshop equipment and therefore cannot be claimed through the warranty process."


The bulletin closes by stating that the Noise Damping Service Kits are

"in a critical supply situation and will be limited, please see the PAC weekly status report on parts availability status and delivery expectation."
